Kayak Connection was founded in 1990 and
since then has introduced thousands of people to
the sport
of sea kayaking. We understand that your leisure time is precious:
let our trained staff show you the magic
of kayaking and the beauty
of the environments we kayak in. You can choose to
get a workout by exercising your body while renewing your senses;
or you can choose to observe otters, seals or even dolphins and
whales from their eye level. Whichever you choose, kayaking will
provide a memorable experience.
We have two on the water locations with very different environments that can provide you with some off work time together doing something healthy and fun. The following are some suggestions of what we offer, but we are flexible and willing to work with your new and fun ideas.
We offer 3 and 4 hour guided tours in the Elkhorn Slough. The Slough is one of very few California wetlands where one can paddle next to otters and seals, and also pelicans, terns and a multitude of shorebirds. Your adventure in the Slough can be nature-oriented or a gathering of your staff for a memorable experience. Paddling double kayaks can create a certain atmosphere of team building without all the structure that can come with a team building experience.
The cost for our tours: $50 for a 3 hour tour; and $60 for a 4-hour tour.
We also offer the same tours out of our Santa Cruz location. From there you can paddle out into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary where at certain times of the year you can paddle near the grey whales, or watch the dolphins and porpoises as they explore their underwater world. The ocean adventure, unlike the Slough experience, is more rugged and much more of a wilderness adventure, though still very appropriate for novices.
The prices for the tours out of our Santa Cruz location are the same as above.

If you would rather be more independent, you can rent your own kayaks and do your own thing. If you want to rent kayaks out of our Santa Cruz store but have not taken classes, we'll rent you our open deck kayaks. In the Elkhorn Slough you can rent closed deck kayaks without having taken classes, as you're never very far from shore.
Our rentals are for a 4 hour period and rent from $33 for a single to $45 for a double.
Whether you choose a tour or rental, you are guaranteed a memorable adventure, possibly the beginning of a new life long activity, and definitely fun in the sun.
If you are searching for a more focused and goal-oriented team building activity that requires your staff to work together but still have lots of fun, we can put together a full day treasure hunt that would require participants to either kayak, ride bicycles or walk. This has been a favorite activity with lots of groups. Everyone loves to spend a day in the sun playing like they did when they were kids, and, at the same time, creating relationships that will foster a more harmonious working relationship.

Overnight and week-long tours: We offer group trips: either an overnight kayaking and camping in Tomales Bay, or off the northern coast of Mendocino. Meals, kayaks, gear, and guides are provided. Both of these trips can be done staying at a bed and breakfast and having a nice dinner and breakfast before going out kayaking. Check our Overnight Kayak Trips web page for more details.
Or if you would really like to treat your staff to a stress free, away-from-it-all week-long tropical snorkeling and kayaking adventure, we can do that in Belize or Palau or Fiji. Check our Worldwide Kayak Tours web page for more details.
