In the fall and winter the Elkhorn Slough virtually vibrates with birds putting on a captivating show of nature as they fly overhead - diving and turning. In a kayak, one can view this stunning show in an intimate and unobtrusive manner. We'll explore many birding areas including tidal creeks, grasslands, and oak woodland areas. Learn the fun of using a Sea Kayak in the calm waters of the Santa Cruz Harbor. We cover all paddling strokes, basic safety and optional kayak rescues. Weather permitting; we'll end with a tour and a visit to the local kelp beds. This slower-paced class for families and friends requires no previous kayaking experience.
