Point Lobos Full Day Sea Kayak Trip

$180

Come paddle with Kayak Connection to the rugged north end of Big Sur, Point Lobos! This full day trip is for intermediate/advanced paddlers and provides the best way to explore the whole Point Lobos coast including granite spires, sea caves, and hidden beaches.

Point Lobos is an incredible headland made of ancient granite that holds some fantastic cave systems we can explore and play in on the way to a sheltered beach for lunch. We will be launching from within the Point Lobos reserve and travelling along large exposed cliff faces and crystal clear-water coves in the company of sea otters, seals, sea lions, and hopefully whales or dolphins.

This trip is led by our most advanced guides and instructors who know the best caves, coves, and rocky outcrops in the area. Our lunch take out is only 3 miles (as the crow flies) from our starting point but with the varied coastline we will not be travelling in a straight line.

Participants should be confident they can paddle for up to 12 miles round trip. Point Lobos is exposed to the open ocean. Paddlers are expected to be able to rescue themselves or rescue a buddy in open ocean conditions. All participants should have previous open ocean paddling experience and some surf launching/landing experience. Dressing for immersion is mandatory (dry suits or wetsuits).

Wetsuits and all other safety gear is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own equipment. We offer a 10% discount for those who bring their own boat and gear.

Minimum: 4 participants

Davenport to Santa Cruz

$150

Paddle the beautiful exposed north coast with an experienced guide on this amazing day paddle from Davenport landing to the Santa Cruz Harbor. Along this stretch of coastline we will be looking for sea caves, large rock formations, sea otters, seals, and possibly whales. As this is an exposed area of open ocean and possible large swells, this is an intermediate trip and requires previous sea kayaking and surf zone instruction.

We can be flexible with the booking of this trip, so please call our shop at (831) 479-1121 to sign up.

Minimum: 4 participants

Maximum: 8 participants

Cement Ship/Seacliff Beach

$120

This tour takes us from the Santa Cruz Harbor to the Cement Ship at New Brighton State Beach. This is a good tour for paddlers who are looking for longer distance and lots of amazing scenery, but with less open ocean conditions. We will pass Pleasure Point, lots of kelp forests with sea otters and harbor seals, Capitola Wharf and Village, and finally the Cement Ship, which is now a roost for many sea birds and a historical oddity from WWI. Previous ocean kayaking experience is necessary, and this trip requires the participants to be in good physical condition.

We can be flexible with the booking of this trip, so please call our shop at (831) 479-1121 for availability.

Minimum: 2 participants

Maximum: 8 participants
